David's Dirty Weekend
From left to right: Mud racers get stuck in; Duct tape is de-rigueur to finish the Mud Race with any footwear at all!

4th May 2011

It may not be everyone’s idea of fun but David, our Creative Director, has a left-field outlook on life and jumped at the chance to get immersed...thigh deep in mud over the Easter bank holiday!

The Maldon Mudrace has a course of just 500 yards across the muddy bed of the River Blackwater.

For a frontrunner, it can take less than 5 minutes to complete however no one gets a truly 'clean run' to the finish and for the majority it proves to be a long, slow crawl. David has since revealed he prepared for the event and developed his ‘competitive edge’ by “watching Saltwater Croc documentaries on YouTube!”

David’s ‘mud-buddies’ on the day included comedians Jo Brand and Sean Lock, and Blue Peter presenter Andy Akinwolere.

With over 250 participants, the Mud Race raises funds for a variety of charities including Essex Air Ambulance, Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, Rotary Charities and Little Havens Children’s Hospice.
